Rumour has it the CIA tried a dozen times with Fidel Castro. Anyway, how do we know that the NK state will implode with a Kim removed ? Given you have a dictatorship of the highest order where all important decisions are deferred to the the fat one, and people are brainwashed into believing only the Little Kims can lead the people of NK, if he is removed, the people left will be unable to think for themselves or make a decision, ergo i think the place would implode, someone may step up to try and take the top spot, there will be opposing factions in the ruling elite I think initally...implosion, then civil war if there are no rulers put in place by say US or China Could well be, but depends on how much Kim is really in control with only 'yes-men' around him. Remember, CCCP managed without a real hitch after Stalin died.

The sentry guards at the PLA HQ in Hong Kong had their guns ready yesterday when I passed. I'm not sure if this is the normal way to hold their guns . Would this signify a higher state of alert ?

What's the Palestine Liberation Army got to do with this? Or is it the Port of London Authority? Pardon my ignorance, but what does PLA stand for here?

They arrived here back in 1997 . However , I think Arafat was in the PLO .😋

I think he should. With the agreement ( and assistance ) of the Chinese. Best outcome would be a Chinese puppet government - it would suit everybody. I suspect the Chinese government would not acquiesce. They wouldn't want to have to deal with the potential flood of refugees and the instability on their border in the aftermath. As there would no longer be a need for the US support of the South I agree. The South Koreaqns would be trying to enter the new China Develelopment Zone. Lots of refugees from the South.

As Ayg has little experience in searching for information I thought I would give him a pointer.

Ah well can't beat a good regional war for lowering house prices. But think of all the employment for the construction companies rebuilding.

If you wanted to really stuff the NKoreans up it is easy, their trade with China is essential to their survival. But the elite there has always managed to find enough to fill its trough. The military doesn't do too badly. It's the ordinary people that would suffer, and the elite doesn't care. It's not like the ordinary people are going to rise up against their leaders and military.
