Does anyone here measure their consumption in terms of units?
Mine averages 35-40 per week, roughly 12 large Leo which to me is pretty much eff all. Compared to what I used to do anyway and compared to what I see others still doing.
I do not understand how in my annual blood tests the liver and kidney readings are safely within normal parameters considering the quantities I used to drink as a younget man.
Anyway any comments on what is a realistically reasonable weekly consumption.

I probably average a carton of beer a week. Considering my shift roster I normally drink a carton in a day then go without for the next 6 days. Not good.

The test you should have done though, which is the relevant one is a liver fibre test.
That might reveal a whole new story.
I won't throw stones from this glass house though.

Yes I read somewhere that just because those blood tests are OK does not automatically mean that the liver does not have a problem. That is what it was referring to then.
I see. Right. Us hypochondriacs have more fun but I will do without the scan.
Thanks for that 3.

I drink tons of water if that helps. I'm talking 5/6 litres a day.

We are told that plenty of water does help. 5/6 litres every day is an awful lot of water.

One or two large bottles a month probably and lots of water, coffee and so. I had Hepatitis A when I was a youngster. That causes damage to your liver even if A seems the least worrying of the quintet A, B, C, D, E.

I only admit to secondary smoke as while at school and other concerts there was this 'je ne sais quoi' in the air. The 'smackhead' I had to look up first. Sorry to disappoint you, I only feel some loathing and a bit of pity for 'heroine hoertjes' where ever they may come from.

The Sunday concerts by the Bangkok orchestra have been cancelled until further notice...an utter travesty in my opinion. One of the true joys in Bangkok's winter.

I dont know what these "units" mean and who dreamed them up, I pay no notice. 12 large Leos a week is as you say, eff all, thats 2 bottles a day six days a week, with a day off to observe the sabbath. These days I dont go for quantity I go for quality, if Chang, Red Horse, Cheers etc were the only beers available I would go teetotal, its the thumping changovers the next morning that kill me.

I realise I am the only one interested but still, 10ml alcohol is one unit. A single 40%abv scotch is 25ml and so one unit. Half a normal bottle of scotch (more than enough for most?) contains 14 units.
3 large 5%abv Leo (more or less 2 litres) a touch under 10 units. 5 would be just over 15.
Just thought I would mention it.

In 7 1/2 hours I commence my three weekly 5 days off, and expect my alcohol consumption to increase accordingly.
