When is the Baht hitting 80/£? A couple more years and I'll have enough for the retirement quals...800000 Baht...then I can retire woo hooo! You dreamers are behind the curve, a bit like the yids, time moves on. Waiting for the Thais to clear the country of the riff raff and raise the bank requirements to 1.5 million, woo hooooo. My dreams are in tatters....you scoundrel! I'll have to work until 2017 now.

Sighs...... once again rgs enjoys dashing our dreams. I wonder how much those dastardly visa agents will charge if it goes to that level. My other mate is convinced that every agent shop in Pattaya has a little back room with a drawer full of rubber stamps which produce the visa/extension whatever without the need to ever go near Jomtien.

I use a visa agent that is legit, the advantage they have is that their business is owned by a relative of a senior Immi. officer so they have direct access. But they have to do everything properly, there are no short cuts, no bending of rules. The it's a win win scenario for everyone except the punter but the underlying system is creaky anyway so I would argue that my visa agent route is more stable and reliable than the underlying system itself. Case in point: CM Immi. has refused to issue residence certificates, they were supposed to be free but CM Immi. wanted 500 baht a pop. Bangkok tried to make them fall in line so they threw their toys out of the pram and closed up shop. That meant that it's impossible to renew a drivers license, buy a car, buy a house and gawd knows what else. My visa agent sorted it and for 1k one was signed over a family dinner, there's even traces of som tam around the edges.

Thats a strange one that CM, it may well be the only paperwork I have had issued from immi that doesnt have a form number on it, does it even exist? As for using an agent, I have seen them in action in BKK, they seem to be more of a bespoke service, fast tracked if you like, but all paperwork must be in order, no waiting in line with the great unwashed. To be honest I am thinking about employing one myself, to do 90 day check ins, they charge 200 baht, bargain. The alternative is to buy a cheapo condo in Samut Prakan, it achieves two goals, living next door to Fletch just to p**s him off, and no need to deal with CW.

I remember being in Pattaya years ago buying up football shirts to take back to the sandpit for the lads. Some plastic paddy was most put out when he found out celtic tops cost more than twice the price of rangers tops, the girl turned round and told him, thai people not like this team.

It seems to work for some but not for others, according to reports I've seen. rgs: you're right, interesting that a Res. Cert. doesn't have an official form number, perhaps it's one of those things that arose out of need and was never made official, that's why they can stop issuing them at will.....it's crazy place we live in at times.

Just to add, the online 90 day reporting is currently offline and the phone App does not work. I had to go to Immigration to do my 90 day report 2 weeks ago.

Send the serf next time or the Woman Friday perhaps. I tried sending mine and she said it wasn't in her job description and threatened a walk out.

We originally sent the driver but immigration there was a minor discrepancy about my last report, so I had to attend in person.

Wouldnt look me in the face, phone handed back and she went away.

I dont know what FB groups you follow, , some of the stories are hilarious, covid, stuck in the boonies blah blah blah, have to do a 90 day report, blah blah blah, why wont my local immi office allow me to renew my visa in the boonies, answer, you are not registered there. Pls go to where you are registered, I refuse to keep the money in the bank, I wont have the Thais tell me what to do with my money, blah blah blah, whinge whinge whinge, the usual visa runner types that left the country every 90 days, now they are effed, hell mend them. Pls Thailand and mr immigration, kick their sorry asses out.
