Blame Soutpeel, but the old feller can not be expected to update the charts each day. My solution, Desert Island Discs, eight records (toons) you would take with you. I have some rules though; only one can be posted each day, otherwise tracing it and listening would be tedious. Secondly I omit classical music, because we are all not familiar with often very long pieces. Jazz also might be prohibited on the same grounds. I am a Miles Davis fan, but some of my favourite tracks go well into forty plus minutes. Enough rules.
Now my problem, which do I choose first?
I have a vast library of discs, all on CD now or downloaded.
So I need to make a decision and that will be determined in part by my mood; or should I just go for it?
Ok . thinking of my wife I fire away.

DESERT ISLAND DISCS That was probably one of the best programmes ever on the Beeb, didn't understand its content much as kid but as I grew older I found the programme and its guests fascinating. I think we all should have a go at it. Souty has indeed turned out to be a great Alchemist in providing the catalyst for this type of thread.

You can research Roy Buchanan, hung himself in a prison cell!
That could have been my number nine, incredible!
No foot pedal for feedback, nothing, just a straight Fender stratocaster, with control knobs, absolutely brilliant. Thanks Soutpeel for the memory.

I have a 'friend" Bill youngest son of Bett, the owner of the corner shop.
He is a professional musician, guitarist, playing the Bangkok clubs.
I think I have mentioned him before, technically Ok , but no originality. I posted Roy Buchanan to him, asked him could he copy that with "feeling"?
Answer, no.

Another day, thus ditty number two.
I shall break my own rule and include a classical piece, but just the one aria , not the whole opera, which I deem permissible.
Lyrics are often not heard, read, but are essential.
Un bel d์, vedremo, Butterfly's aria from Madama Butterfly
Un bel d์, vedremo One good day, we will see Levarsi un fil di fumo Arising a strand of smoke Sull'estremo confin del mare Over the far horizon on the sea E poi la nave appare And then the ship appears E poi la nave ่ bianca. And then the ship is white Entra nel porto, romba il suo saluto. It enters into the port, it rumbles its salute Vedi? ศ venuto! Do you see it? He is coming! Io non gli scendo incontro, io no. I don't go down to meet him, not I. Mi metto lเ sul ciglio del colle I stay upon the edge of the hill E aspetto gran tempo And I wait a long time e non mi pesa a lunga attesa. but I do not grow weary of the long wait E uscito dalla folla cittadina And leaving from the crowded city, Un uomo, un picciol punto A man, a little speck S'avvia per la collina. Climbing the hill. Chi sarเ? Chi sarเ? Who is it? Who is it? E come sarเ giunto And as he arrives Che dirเ? Che dirเ? What will he say? What will he say? Chiamerเ Butterfly dalla lontana He will call Butterfly from the distance Io senza far risposta I without answering Me ne star๒ nascosta Stay hidden Un po' per celia, A little to tease him, Un po' per non morire A little as to not die. Al primo incontro, At the first meeting, Ed egli al quanto in pena And then a little troubled Chiamerเ, chiamerเ : He will call, he will call "Piccina - mogliettina "Little one, dear wife Olezzo di verbena" Blossom of orange" I nomi che mi dava al suo venire. The names he called me at his last coming. Tutto questo avverrเ, All this will happen, te lo prometto I promise you this Tienti la tua paura - Hold back your fears - Io con sicura fede lo aspetto. I with secure faith wait for him.
Why this?
Most of my favourites are pretty heavy and stuck on the island I would need something quite different and if alone it too would remind me of lost love and what might have been.No blame game.
Hold tight, here we go.

not a particularly big fan of opera, but this is a very powerful and my favourite aria, from Turnadot Yes Puccini knew how to compose a belter. Great stuff, always reminds me of Italy. Thailand has some similarities with Italy, carefree nature, family the core, and food (shall i include mafia and corruption?) Music, it does not have or great art and architecture, one wat is much like another. Each town much the same. Oh now I want to move to Italy!

Not permitted to post another of my eight today.
That ego tripper Bono (U20) made a good comment about Elvis , something on the lines that from a country blues singer, his voice matured into that of an opera singer, but was never given the material,or in my opinion was too afraid to go down that path. He did record 'It's now or never',"O Sol Mio" proving the point.
Have to wait and see if Elvis gets in my eight, sure would be in my ten; thinking about it, but it would be from the Sun sessions, not the later dross.
