I did. I lived in Toronto. My company recruited engineers from Britain to work illegally in the USA for Ford. Some of the work we did in Windsor across the river from Detroit and some at the Ford factory in Dearborn. I went back and forth to coordinate the projects. British engineers worked for half of what we had to pay Americans to do the same work. My company was doing well when someone blew the whistle on me or something happened (I was never sure) long and short of it was I got drafted. I could have gone back to Canada. It would have been desertion at that point but you are correct I could have lived full time in Canada no problems I was legal there. Back then a passport was not necessary to go back and forth from Canada and the USA. I, however went to Vietnam to get away from my wife Beverly. She could follow me to Canada or the USA but she never made it to Vietnam or Thailand. Living in Vietnam in 1968 was safer than living with Beverly. He said already he was not a Canadian Citizen...he was adopted by Americans and Canada did not allow citizenship to be retained on adoption overseas. I lived and worked in Canada legally. Back then they called me a landed immigrant whatever that means. It was no problem since I had a job and house and family there.

I refer you once again to Teddy Roosevelt - a prime example of American Exceptionalism. And American Exceptionalism lives - appallingly, to this day, it lives. I would agree with that too but does that make the famines in India and Ireland less severe? Am I getting through? I can be an American or Canadian or person from Iceland and the British still tried to starve the Irish and Indians. Begs the question. What was worse, the Irish Potato Famine ( self-inflicted ) or the Genocide of the Native Americans? Or how about another question. What is the point of bringing these issues up time and time again? Is the Irish Potato Famine a contentious issue to this day on the British Isles? Yes - it is. And you are the same guy that said that the British tried to starve the Thai nation by proposing to remove millions of tons of rice so that we could feed starving Indians and Burmese. So, what is it? are we cruel bastards who just love seeing people starve? Or are we a fundamentally decent nation that spread many ideals across the world, while accepting that we made mistakes?

What about a country which systematicly defoliated a countries entire rice crop.

Not only that but I go to the doctor in Thailand every 90 days to receive treatment for a condition caused by agent orange. Agent orange has effected millions of Americans and their families. The people who did it should be shot. No if's and's or buts - line em up and shoot them.

You asked the question. After much research and thought and reading the writings of Rhodes and I'd go with the cruel bastard option. But I make this decision not lightly. Can you identify who said the following things? A. “I hate Indians,” he once trumpeted. “They are a beastly people with a beastly religion.” - B. “Palestinians - "barbaric hordes who ate little but camel dung" C. "Nine-tenths of them will have to spend their lives in manual labor, and the sooner that is brought home to them, the better" D. "Africa is still lying ready for us it is our duty to take it. It is our duty to seize every opportunity of acquiring more territory and we should keep this one idea steadily before our eyes that more territory simply means more of the Anglo-Saxon race more of the best the most human, most honourable race the world possesses" E. "Pure philanthropy is very well in its way but philanthropy plus five percent is a good deal better." F. "hoisted by one's own petard."

Or slaughtered the aboroginal population? Next? And who was the ruler when that may have happened the Blether....... Aztec Empire, Inca Empire, Mayan Empire Charles I the Emperor Spanish: Carlos I Little Big Horn Sitting Bull vs Custer - Bull wins. President Ulysses S Grant (who is now posting on the duck forum) Canadian Native Indian genocide - King George (can't remember which one) When adding up how many American aboriginals were killed I question the use of disease except where it was intentional. How many American Indians were killed after Independence in the Indian wars? I can't find a number that does not include disease and South American Indians.

In America we hold the present population accountable for the sins of the fathers and as a result gave the Indians their land back in many cases. Seminole HardRock Casino Attachment Deleted

Queen Victoria asked Rhodes if he was gay. I don't see why I can't?Are you for real? You think that what happened in Victorian times is still acceptable in today's modern society. Hey why don't we round up the waifs and horse whip them, we should also revoke suffrage as well. And apart from being British, what did Monty do to you? It would appear that you will use any means and stoop as low as possible to try to win an argument. It must really seem strange to know that we are all out of step and that you are the only person on this forum who is in step.

Queen Victoria asked Rhodes if he was gay. Don't be ridiculous. She most certainly wouldn't have used the word "gay". And anyway, what she asked him was whether he hated women (was a misogynist), rather than asking if he was a sodomite.

If such an icon of propriety can ask why not I. There have been books written on the topic even the BBC - BBC unveils a Victorian hero - a money-mad, racist, closet gay. If the BBC can talk about it I'm hardly out of step. Perhaps it is you who is out of step? Cecil was a British Imperialist who thought the United States would eventually rejoin Britain I guess we can write that idea off. Mark Twain (famous American) admired Rhodes though he said, "I admire him, I frankly confess it; and when his time comes I shall buy a piece of the rope for a keepsake."
