Why would anyone go to The ME for 2k a month? ...mostly the inexperienced, undereducated and generally ignorant: a Scot I knew in Riyadh was quite happy on USD1800 a month with free (shared) housing, 2 weeks off a year and no taxes...most others are on far more lucrative and less demanding contracts... Lawd help us, thats a TCN salary. I suppose I should be grateful that this guy is in the desert and not let loose in Thailand. |

The following is an ejection seat, the black/yellow handle is pulled to initiate the egress system  I can only hope on her descent she doesnt suffer spine shrinkage, its not unheard of to lose an inch in height. |

It's actually a shame to see AF close down, that is one of the longer standing forums and I am sure it has been of great use to many over the years. I never really used it, as it was just a bit to TEFL centric for me, though in the first couple of years here, I did a bit of TEFL and it was the place to look for jobs. I would imagine something will come along to fill that need for the TEFL population.

The salary coupled with their goat cheese pensions may be the only thing standing between them and the balcony. |

I agree with you regarding locking the thread, but what worries me is the threat of a lot of AF "refugees/trolls" joining the BM, taking control, and trying to drag it down to their level.
Hope it does not come to that, this place has been a haven for people like me trying to get away from that shite.
