I agree with you regarding locking the thread, but what worries me is the threat of a lot of AF "refugees/trolls" joining the BM, taking control, and trying to drag it down to their level. Hope it does not come to that, this place has been a haven for people like me trying to get away from that shite. So far who are Ajarn trolls that joined this forum? Phuketbound |

It is part of the forum policy that no thread is locked or no member is banned (to date apart from the pikey spammers trolls only one member has been banned.) No one will be banned unless there is a common consensus of opinion based upon the members reactions and the mod team overall agreement .
A thread or two has been quarantined and a couple have been closed due in the main to contents that could be deemed harmful to the liberty or reputation(s) of the forum team and members reputations as well as other individuals.
We have always been tolerant of abrasive posts, however if posts are seen as trying to disrupt the board or alienate members action could be taken.
It's the members who make the board and it's their posts that trigger any reactions.

As an ''extra'' so to speak we need to remember that those ardent advocates of free speech are great crusaders, but then they start to twist things around by stating you cannot use that word that expression, those actions. that set up etc it's not P C.
That is what has happened in the past and is still happening now regarding the fact that suddenly one cannot use that expression or that word or that set up as it is offensive to others.
Thus those fine upholders and bastions of free speech develop into the oppressive censors of free speech the very antithesis of what they started out to achieve. Then there powerful crusading rhetoric becomes a case of, ''Do not do as I do, Do as I say.''
So take care, give thought to your comments and beware of what you say as it may end up with an end result such as the frogs achieved when they wanted a new king.
All actions have subsequent results.
And yes, I know and I like all of us are fully aware that the above situation applies equally to both sides of the fence.

Since the early days of the board. You may or may not know that we had a number of somewhat difficult members who managed to create a personal battleground of conflict amongst themselves and that conflict ran on too long as we were a little naive then.
None of us wanted to remove any one person or persons at all, however individual actions were taken. Sometimes though it was questionable as to whether or not those actions were taken in the right spirit.
Innocents suffered and guilty parties escaped. Well after a particular nasty spate of a cyber punch up actions were taken and no quarter was given, after that it was agreed that any further actions were to be on a common consensus of opinion basis, unless of course the posts were seen as insulting those who are highly respected, blatantly provocative, abusive or obscene or a spammer activity.
Took time but we seem to have got it about right at last.
