Beefies closed down the month before I got to Hong Kong, all of the old hands of TST used to tell tales of how great the place was. Spent many a day (and pay packet) in the White Stag (when it was on Canton Road), in fact I have a small tattoo on my arm which says White Stag H.K. Michele the owner of the Stag is still around, I met up with her 3 years back for the funeral of a close mutual friend. She now and owns 3 bars, the best being just down the road from where the Old China Hand in Wanchai once stood. Johnny is still her main bar manager. Do you remember the Blacksmith's Arms (Blackies) at the back of Chung King, I think that it was in Minden Road, also the 'Watering Hole' was in the same area. I remember the name Blackies, but dont recall ever drinking in there, i might of....my time in HK was rather a blurry haze for most of the time , i was working between an office in HK and being on site at Daya Bay, the Nuclear on the Chinese side, at that time about a 2 hour taxi ride from Shenzen....our time in HK was more R&R than anything else, even cargo inspections for gear coming in to HK from France before they were put on the barges and sent up the coast was just an excuse to go to HK and go on the lash From the description I think you meant I&I rather than R&R
