I'm doing them at the moment. A department store only lets us refit their store after hours.
Better money , but I feel like crap.
Not sure I'd be able to keep it up much longer than the 6 weeks the jobs going for , I like waking up early , do my job and knocking off at a normal time.
Well done to the permanent nightshift crowd! Its not easy.

I once got a call in the morning if I could come to have a look at some problems during tests. I already came back home late afternoon the next day. Didn't do much apart from helping people from another company figure out what the problem was in their stuff. Fell asleep during a meeting where I had to be present only. Real fun. Nicest call was on a 31st of December where I managed (just barely) to return the same year

Loved working the nightshift, for the simple reason, no pricks in ties or suits around, eg management idiots, we mugs were left to clean up the crap they had left behind.
One example, some management prick wanted us to swap a HP filter from one aircraft to another (lack of spares), what effin idiot would contaminate one fuel system with anothers?
Another prick wanted us to swap out a nosewheel leg that hadnt been NDI'd after a "heavy landing"
As mentioned before, "educated idiots".
Funnily enough, after the facts were explained, none of these idiots were willing to sign off the job, best we leave it for the day shift lads, was the usual get out.

Haha have I ever done night shifts?
In London we used to go to work on a Friday morning and knock off at 1pm on Monday afternoon.
Yes that's right the generous management gave us a Monday afternoon off.
You had better not be late on the Tuesday morning though!

To be fair the Sat/Sun were 24 hour on calls so between the emergency surgery and cardiac arrest calls we usually got to bed by 5am.

I did 2 years nights on Crisis intervention, and than another year as hospital duty manager.
I actually enjoyed nights once i got into the routine of it. I struggled more when i had mixed shifts like one week of nights and then days, and when I was a student i used to work maybe one idd night a week for the extra monies, and that was tough.
If i was ever gonna go back to UK to work, i would probably do agency night shifts
Coming off a night shift, grabbing a good fry up and a few pints at the local used to be fun.

I was asked today to do some night shifts next month.
I just smiled and agreed.
Part of my job and to be honest keeps me off the jungle juice heh heh.

I enjoyed nights as there was something fulfilling about being left alone to do your job. Given a choice, I'd always do nights, especially when my kids were at school. I could sleep no problem, and be awake to collect them. It worked out well.
In the long term, it can have negative health affects though.

Years ago I worked on East coast prawn trawlers, nearly all night work, sometimes we trawled constantly day and night if there were prawns to be caught during the day. That was often the case in the deepwater, around 100 fathoms. The worst job I had regarding sleep deprivation was the northern boat I worked on in 83-84. That boat worked 24-7, around the clock, regardless of the weather. I used to get two 90 minute sleeps in 24 hrs, from midnight til 1.30 am then from about 3.00 am til 4.30am. Funny thing was when the sun rose it was like starting again, like the clock had been reset. Mind you I was only 26 yo at the time and I was drinking lots of coffee.

You're all mad. It's not normal enjoying staying awake all night. We were all young once and had plenty of practice partying all night and sleeping the day away.
