I posted once in the tvf CM forum. Never again. It was like wandering into a savage homeless bunch of mange flea ridden soi dogs.

I'm a big fan of Ragu, the Italian restaurant owned by David of Dukes fame, located in Promenada. It is Americanized Italian food to a large degree so purists may balk at it being good Italian food. But the quality is very high and the prices sensible for (nearly) everyday eating, the homemade Italian sausage is excellent - I can highly recommend. Figure 650 baht for two for main course and a shared starter of flatbread.

I am no purist, i just ocassionally enjoy eating top notch food..only ever been to Davids Kitchen twice in CM (once was the New Years do) and more recently about 2 months ago, but the place has excellent food and superb service...both ocassions have really enjoyed the evenings there, well worth money Will try Ragu next time i am up there i think

Where is Ragu in Promenada? I eat regulary at Dukes as my missus and daughter like the food there. We generally eat out 3 or 4 times a week, occasionaly at Big C foodcourt if picking up shopping, i have never been there for a night out. How sad is that? I have seen the types it attracts though.
There are some right bell ends around though, bashing away on thier keyboards - the thought that someone might pay more than a 100 baht for dinner infuriates them

We like September Brassarie on Canal Road, great little place and foes some nice beers as well; one drink probably more than the Big C scratchers dinner
So Lao also great Issan food, recommended by me :-)

Try this for lunch, a magical setting and not expensive at all, the food is very good but the setting is what makes it worthwhile: www.panvimanresortchiangmai.com/Another great setting is this one, for lunch only but on a waterfall: www.sukantara.com/en/Both about thirty minutes drive from the centre of CM.

More like skint Brexit pensioners, digital pikeys living the dream or vloggers posting to their pathetic blog about living the dream as a Ripper (retiree in paradise) for 200 baht per day, ffs I spend more than that on my air con bill.

Instead as you correctly point out, they go all effin vegan and hippy and spout new age nonsense about everything being an illusion. That steak I devoured the other night was no illusion, it was effin lovely.
