People need food even if they are pikeys or Brits... As far as I am concerned I only eat at Sausage Kings when I go to CM. His curries are great examples of English Indian Curries (I believe his ex wife was from one of the ex colonies) His serves are good, his roasts are good value and his sausages quite good., Not gourmet but I have never left there hungry and a nice garden setting. You do not have to spend a fortune for decent food and you can do so for rubish at other places. I believe his pies, curries and sausages are now in Villa in Bangkok too. Nice guy who has worked hard over the last 8 years or so building up a good business. Not all fly by nights here.

Well the electric went out at 6.30 in our mooban, so we had the choice to wait or go out for dinner.
I suggested Big C Food court to the family as a place we could eat and be entertained; the looks from Mrs T and Miss T were enough to make me realise it is not a dinner option. Miss T at 12 years of age said " food court ok for lunch or snack if shopping, but who goes there otherwise?" I didn't wan to get into the Pikey / Scratcher debate, far too busy with work for that

One suspects not potentional customers for Davids Kitchen then ?...may be the table scraps in the car park for them ? Do a review of the above mentioned that will ruffle the CM farang culinary " elite" With reports who are the funders for David's enterprises there may be some who prefer not to eat there.

Wasn't aware of any rumours, but I guess I am not keeping up to date on the CM scandals,

I know a number of interesting first-hand stories regarding the funding of CM expat business, some very well known, the ins and outs of some of them are quite hair-raising, certainly not the sort of stuff for open (or closed) forum.

And who would that be then ? my understanding talking to him is that the enterprise self funded, granted there may/will be Thai partners due to the limited company structure set up in Thailand Sure this are not rumours made up by the bitter farang geriatrics who cant stand the thought of another farang getting ahead in Thailand, so have nothing better to do than gossip and start rumours like old washer women hanging over the back fence ?

I'm a big fan of Ragu, the Italian restaurant owned by David of Dukes fame, located in Promenada. It is Americanized Italian food to a large degree so purists may balk at it being good Italian food. But the quality is very high and the prices sensible for (nearly) everyday eating, the homemade Italian sausage is excellent - I can highly recommend. Figure 650 baht for two for main course and a shared starter of flatbread. I remember 1 Italian restaurant we ate in 1 night. The waitress first walked out and shows us a plate of expensive mushrooms and fungi. It was confusing.

I have to say the Thai food in CM and more especially CR is amazing.
I use Dukes for my western fix.

That i don't doubt, i know of several very dubious characters operating business here in CM. I don't reckon i am one of tge shifty bastards, .

Best cold rolls I've ever had were from the lower level of some shopping centre in cm. I wad addicted to them. Made by an older lady who knew exactlh how a cold roll should taste. I'd eat in that food court again anytime.

^^and I'll add I'd rather eat in a big c food court than most street food choices anyday. The difference is air con and seating. I hate sitting on the street sweating and eating.

Maybe it's an Aussie thing. Food courts are great. Out of the sun and plenty of choices of what to eat. See us Aussies laugh when we see poms trying to get a tan on a Thai beach. Poor buggers look like beetroots.

Been there a few times and for the life of me, can't remember where we ate; or where we stayed for that matter.

If it was an older shopping centre it would have been Gad Suan Gow (sp), if a newer much larger one, Central Festival.
