I wrote this piece 25 years ago. At the time, I thought that this was the one thing I wanted to tell the world, the one thing I was put on this planet to share. If it was, I haven't really developed the thesis at all. Expanded it. Written the book that would go with it. And I rarely ever tout it, even though it's a click away. I recently shared it with a friend, a fervent atheist, who was trying to point out the Epicurean Paradox, the Problem of Evil. I directed him to my missive and he told me later that he liked the way I wrote it. So, I feel it's my once-every-five-years time to share it with the world. I have some thoughts about the Problem of Evil...
Why do babies die? Why do people suffer? Why do wars continue? Why is the modern world a seemingly cruel and meaningless place offering few answers to life’s most important questions? Why is that we can travel to the moon, end diseases, connect the whole world electronically and yet still can’t overcome our tendency to fear, hate, kill and oppress one another?
These are tough questions to answer, particularly if one also holds a conviction in an all-powerful, ever-present, all-loving divine force. The question of why God allows evil to exist is not a new one. Although theologians of many religions have explained the tragedies as being caused by Satan, sin, karma, or the numerous weaknesses and shortcomings of humanity itself, only a few dare put the causality behind suffering into the hands of God. Putting the "fault" on God for modernity is challenging as it leads to the conclusion that if God created the likes of Hitler, then God cannot be truly benevolent. Even if one accepts this causality, one is then faced with the question of why. Why did God make Hitler?

If one accepts there is no such thing as god/religion...then it all becomes much easier to understand/accept
Define "evil" ? Evil is in tbe eyes of the beholder...what one sees as evil may not be seen as evil by another..
Jeffrey Dahmer is considered a very evil person...did "god" make him evil ? Like fk he did...the enviroment he grew up in, coupled with his own insecurites, coupled with a substance abuse problem, coupled with a chemical inbalance in his brain, and a degree of mental illness turned him into the psycho with a fondness for eating people...
In Hitlers case...its on record that he was taking vast quantities pharmaceutical drugs, including speed over an extended period...why is yabaa called yabaa in Thailand ?
Because it makes you crazy...and crazy people can do evil things
Hitler grew up in an abusive household...Hitler fought in the horror of WWI in the trenches and seen terrible things and was wounded..
PTSD makes people do evil things as
My point...nothing to do with God... Evil has its root in enviroment in combination wirh other factors

Actually evil has nothing to do with God, because it's said it's part of Satan. It's almost like having an evil twin brother, or looking from the other side a do-gooder as twin brother.

Jeffrey Dahmer existed to be an example of how we don't cannibalize our gay partners.
<duck>ing and then eating young men... This is BAD! Dahmer, by him doing that, reminded us all of that important lesson.

Stephen Fry has it right on target Note that evil is created by the Sky Wizard the mentally challenged who believe in the myths. Clip 2 is indeed straight to the point.

Since my fellow BM-ers are men of the world and able to discuss things through as reasonable human beings and objectively without immediately resorting to personal insults, let's offer this little consequence of there not being a God. With there not being a God or super-being, when you sing "God save the Queen" you actually say "nothing saves the Queen". I guess we Dutch made it easier by just saying "Long Live the King, hiep, hiep, hoera"

And for the record those who say we are all God's children have got it wrong.
Scripture (Ephesians 2) says that we are children of wrath. Somewhere else it says we only become God's children when we are born again and become saved. Very positive actions, not for the faint hearted.

In America (and maybe elsewhere) we have born again Christians. Personally I feel that the process may have some kinks to be straitened out before we go into full production.

Nothing more annoying are those who quote from a fairy story book and claim it was written by some higher being...i would take as much credence from the words of some bloke called Ephesians 2 as i would from these dudes...

For there are many rebellious people who engage in useless talk and deceive others. This is especially true of those who insist on circumcision for salvation. biblehub.com/titus/1-10.htm
