Yes I well remember the Italian priest in Scotland demanding his cash from the striking miners back in 84-85 when they couldn't even afford to feed and clothe their children.
Scum of the highest order and no pun intended.

Scum of the highest order and no pun intended. TBH Smokes, it wasn't much of a pun for someone who grew up outside of the priest's clutches. I thought that the 'scum' reference was the pun, I thought that David Threlfall had taken his holy vows. In fact, my knowledge of the Catholic Church is so sparse that I once wanted to join as I heard that if you went into a private room, said the magic words of 'Please Father forgive me, it has been xxx weeks since my last big session' then the man would give you 3 bloody Mary's. That got cancelled as soon as I found out the truth. The only person that gets my confession is a barman. Anyway, back to you Smokes, how are you so worldly wise in Catholic terminology? Do you have an Uncle Frankie somewhere in the family lineage? |

Without religion people need another moral framework to keep them in check. Karl Max and his followers were not one iota better with communism. In Worker's Paradises the workers were still screwed. It's unfortunate human beings didn't progress yet to the point of automatically doing what is right. Of course, we can't even agree on what's right apart from the latest trend on 'facts' being what people are told by their 'betters'. But isnt that one of fundamental questions ?...personally i am an athiest, and rabid anti Marxist, but i know fundamentally right from wrong...so isnt this a case of parenting which sets the moral frame work ?... So could we modify your first sentence to state without religion stupid people need.... Unfortunately the world is also filled up with stupid parents. |

Haha my mother's family were hell maybe still are a big catholic family of the area....front row seats guaranteed on my two visits a year as a kid to visit my grandparents. Never met a priest though thank christ....proper scotty botty lot those weirdos! |

Joan d'Arc was a Catholic but so was everyone else in those days even the 'good' people so that doesn't count. Tjeez tigs, you do know how to come up with difficult quiz questions  |
