So I'm in the position I may need to return to Dewburystan. My brothers are in the at risk category and my sister works for the NHS. What am I supposed to to do. Our lass has just had an hysterectomy and I don't want her lifting anything heavy. Sensible replies please, corruption is an acceptable piece of advice.

Stay here and take care of your lass, the rest can wait.
I understand your concerns, I mentioned before about expats being selfish bastids, its just the life we lead.
I have missed out on many family events, weddings, funerals etc etc.
Missed out on sporting and musical events.
At the end of the day, its the life we chose, and we live with the fallout.

Trying my damndest not to go back. As things stood, I needed one more visa from Suvannakhet. Thank you China, and yes I do blame them. Especially after news emerging today. I've never used an agent before, but I'm looking now. I've tried to obtain information from the embassy. Wankers a total waste of space.

Just pay the brokers fee, I concur with everything else you say.
I dont say that flippantly, I am aware each and every immi office and officer has their own rules.

Personally, my view is that you should stay here Mosha, your wife needs you
In the UK those you speak of have each other to rely upon for both physical and moral support, plus a welfare system that is true despite all its flaws a great bastion of support.
Be coldly analytical, just what can or will you achieve by returning to the UK, and at what cost?
I'm not talking about financial costs either. It's the emotional cost that you will have concerning your wife and both your future lives here in Thailand
All you have strived for and achieved will likely be lost, Give mind to your wife and her feelings.
Time to put you and your wife in the first place...
Stay put Mosha...

Staying here gets my vote also, you may fill some emotional need by going back but that will wear off once you've been back for a while. When it does you'll have to face up to a bigger problem by asking yourself, what have I done! At some point in life, wifey has to come first, the relatives are all big boys and girls that have good support systems, health care and other facilities at their beck and call, wifey does not. As said, stay put.

It's not an emotional need as such. It's more circumstances. I get the impression the guy at the local immigration is open to erm incentives. We have to go pay Bill's either tomorrow or the day after. So we'll have a chat and get Sopha to plead she needs a donkey. We have a medical certificate to explain I'm the donkey. 555

Your post is a bit vague for a thicko like me, I dont know if you are being squeezed for tea money, or looking for someone a bit more progressive and liberal open to some under the table solution.
As they say in Thai, ทุกปัญหามีทางออก.
I know of people who were being squeezed, their answer was to rent some cheapo condo, fill in a tm 30 at the local area, then apply for a visa, 90 day reports were done online, they then moved back to where they live.

I too am confused. Going to pay Bill's what I ask myself. I am sure it will be made clear in the fullness of time.
In the meantime the advice on here seems sound and worth taking. Best of luck.

Practically speaking travelling is still a hassle. Getting flights out of Thailand and back again are difficult. You might end up buying two single fare tickets (TH -> UK and UK -> TH). Also you might end up 'self-isolating' or 'forced isolated' for up to two weeks at both ends.
As some mentioned before, your family here is your direct concern. Family back in the UK is a concern but the UK functions much better for people with problems than Thailand.
I know, easy to say as I'm not involved. Just my two cents.

Well I went to Ranong immigration to see what I need to do. Visa runs out Nov 11. The boss told me I have to leave the country by September 26th, because I couldn't do border hops, my visa is invalid. So I can't extend it. Suvannakhet here I come.

You've been here for a long time, aren't you on a marriage visa (presumably O), if so, why cannot the visa be extended?
