For my friend rott who may have missed this item "WHEN AND WHERE TO CATCH POPE FRANCIS IN BANGKOK Pope Francis will roll down the streets of the Thai capital in a locally-made Popemobile during his apolistic visit this November. Pope Francis’ Thailand visit will include an audience with the King, Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha, the Buddhist Patriarch, and two (fully-booked) Holy Masses, according to detailed itinerary released by Thai Catholic officials at a press conference Monday afternoon. “The point is to be able to get everyone close to him as possible,” Monsignor ViThanya-anan, deputy secretary-general of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Thailand said. “Even if its full, we will do whatever we can. Even people who can’t get in but are outside will be able to see it live.” " www.khaosodenglish.com/news/2019/10/28/when-and-where-to-catch-pope-francis-in-bangkok/

I'll think I'll go and watch the grass grow in King Rama IX Park as opposed to watching some doddery old clerical character in its expensive drag costumes continue to indoctrinate the gullible masses into the god theory. Or possibly reruns of this great (*Irish by birth) drag artiste, no religion involved there, he had seen the light.
Funnily enough his mother wanted him to be a priest but Danny took the right road without all the religious claptrap

The visit to St.Louis Hospital doesn't bother me as I'm using BTS/BRT and pass before. The audience with the King in Dusit Palace may cause some traffic in the area and since I live there (in the area that is) I might choose to go home a bit later than usual although the Mass in the National Stadium at 6PM may also cause havoc there. Maybe I stay home the 21st.
BTW the Pope is Head of State and as such the LM laws in Thailand do apply I think. Whatever one may think about it, him, them, keep it toned down a bit.

I hadn't realised Pope Francis is a Pokémon character. Still, it'll be good to know where and when to catch him. Gotta Catch 'Em All.

As I may have said previously, Il Papa used to travel on diplomatic and sovereign immunity, not sure if this current character does likewise but i would be interested in finding out. The "Head of State", right, exactly what size is the state? It used to be described as roughly the size of Sefton Park in Liverpool, possibly one or the other has grown or shrunk in the meantime. How many passport holders in this state? How many of them were born there? How many customs/border checkpoints? How many schools or hospitals? Still it will no doubt make plenty of smelly, unwashed Celtic supporters happy. In the meantime I will be busy grassing rubl up under the LM laws for describing the visit as "apolistic". Saucy bleeder.

Another group 'disagreed' with the Pope who would like to support married priests in South America. "Last month, the Vatican and Pope Francis hosted the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon Region to discuss the challenges facing Amazonia and the Catholic Church therein. The meeting managed to be extremely wild and extremely predictable at once. The wild part featured not just the expected debates about married priests and female deacons, but an extended meltdown over whether a wooden statue of a naked, kneeling, pregnant woman, used in a ritual on the Vatican grounds, embodied indigenous reverence for the Virgin Mary or indigenous pantheism and nature worship. Vatican officials seemed determined not to clarify the matter. Traditionalist outrage ran wild and eventually a young traditionalist swiped one of the statues from a Roman church and pitched it into the River Tiber — making himself either a successor of Saint Boniface or a racist iconoclast, depending on which faction of Catholic media you believed." www.kansascity.com/opinion/opn-columns-blogs/syndicated-columnists/article237377704.html

Interesting one rgs, how many? I seem to remember no more than half a dozen. A magnanimous gesture, not intended for positive publicity I am sure, could come back to bite them on the bum when citizenship issues arise. Council house or are they buying privately?

Saucy bleeder. How many refugees did the vatican take in? A very valid question! In 2016 Vatican City took in 21 Syrian refugees. Population of the city in 2017 was about 1000 on 0.44 km2 (or a density of 2272 per km2). No newer data available I think. For comparison, in April 2018 we had in Britain, a slightly larger country: "Where have the UK's 10,000 Syrian refugees gone? The UK has accepted more than 10,000 Syrian refugees in the past two and a half years - but analysis by the BBC shows large disparities in the numbers going to different parts of the country. Scotland has taken four times as many Syrian refugees as Greater London, while Northern Ireland has taken over 300 more than the whole of the east of England. Relative to their populations, northern England has taken over twice as many Syrian refugees as the South." www.bbc.com/news/uk-43826163

Those in the know tell its its the christain thing to do. Is the vatican in the EU? Does it have a hard or soft border, backstop issues? Can I as an EU citizen go and live there? Does in contribute to NATO?
